The Planning Committee works with owners and residents and reviews applications submitted to the Landmarks Commission, Land Use Control Board, and Board of Adjustment for properties within Evergreen, to ensure that they meet the Design Guidelines and align with the character of the neighborhood. The Planning Committee also works to identify neglected, abandoned, or problem structures in the neighborhood, and strives to work with the owners, code enforcement, and neighbors to ensure safety, livability, and stability.

August C.O.A. applications before Landmarks
MAJOR
309 N McClean – COA 2024-102 – Stop work order. App submitted does not appear to fully address citation or notes from Brett Ragsdale. New/Repair garage, new fence, new deck, possibly circle driveway?
MINOR
197 N Evergreen (Drakes) – COA 2024-096 – Updates to older signage
425 Stonewall – COA 2024-098 – 2nd story rear addition, not visible from street
443 Angelus – COA 2024-105 – New garage and driveway. Would be major, but it was reviewed and approved ca. 2005, so being reviewed as minor.
August Board of Adjustment Cases
309 N McClean – BOA 2024-0078 – See #4. This application does not include most of the items outlined in the email from Ayse attached to it.
June C.O.A applications before Landmarks
MAJOR
COA 2024-072 –1914 Poplar (The Parkview) – Modification to approved COA to change brick fence to solid hardi-material. Scroll to page 29 to view the design. It looks nice (nothing like hardi siding which was my first thought), but obviously not as elegant as a brick fence.
COA 2024-062 – RETRO: 148 Clark Place Application seeking approval for already constructed front yard fence. No real photos of the actual fence, but a couple photos show part of it.
MINOR
COA 2024-080 – 1642 Poplar – New metal fence and move metal gate towards Poplar. Property is decrepit; however, I don’t think that plays any role in COA review. Staff recommends approve with appropriate setbacks from Poplar.
COA 2024-071 – 319 Garland – COA is for standard dog-ear fencing around rear perimeter of new construction duplex. Looks good.
COA 2024-079 – 1800 Overton Park Ave – Front, side and rear transparent wrought iron fence.
